What led Marc Rinaldi to carry out his project? He wanted to gather the best patches of land, the most talented and committed winegrowers -especially to biodynamic farming-, as well as dedicated and demanding fine wine lovers, around the idea of making and ageing the best possible wines, while bringing out the distinguished and specific character of each and every terroir.
Martin Schaetzel first bottled his own wines back in the early 1930’s.
Jean Schaetzel set out to convert the estate to first organic and then biodynamic farming and qualified for the French AB (organically-grown grapes) and Biodynamique (biodynamically-grown grapes) certifications.
2015 – 2016
Kirrenbourg sas was founded as a subsidiary of Rinaldi, with a share capital of EUR2.9million (USD3.3million). Grapes grown in the 10 ha (25 acres) of vineyards are now vinified in the brand-new Kientzheim winery. They include 8 hectares (20 acres) of Grands Crus, namely: Schlossberg, Brand, Hengst and Rangen.
Annual average production: 45,000 bottles with 50% of Riesling-based wines.
All sold under the Martin Schaetzel brand.
