Biodynamic culture is the most effective way of persuading vines to dig down deep, while helping them also to "reach for the stars". The grapes they produce are unique, a perfect mirror of the terroir, giving peerlessly authentic wines.
Two outstanding terroirs
Kirrenbourg stands astride two illustrious granite-soil Grand Cru terroirs, Schlossberg (7 ha under vine) and Brand (3 ha under vine).
Grand cru Schlossberg
The very first Alsace Grand Cru to be classified as such, in 1975, Schlossberg is also the largest, with its 80 ha stretching from Kaysersberg to Kientzheim.
Facing fully south, Schlossberg occupies an outstanding location. With its steep, terraced slopes at altitudes varying between 230m and 400m, its mineral-rich granite bedrock is exposed to frequent breezes coming up from the bottom of the valley to encourage the grapes to mature nice and slowly and keep their refreshing acidity.
The wines from this Grand Cru have their own, string, yet elegant personality with a pure, upright character, lifted by their perfectly-balanced acidity and mineral notes.

Grand cru Brand
Brand achieved Grand Cru status in 1983 and its 50 ha overlook the town of Turckheim. The sun-blessed slopes of the vineyard benefit from a granite bedrock which encourages the vine roots to dig down deeply to draw from the abundance of mineral elements.
The wines themselves mirror the complexity of the soil, with a sleek character heightened by an agreeable freshness.
